One comment → You mentioned act utilitarianism, that “ Yet, each of the judgments that flow from act utilitarianism conflicts with widespread, deeply held moral beliefs”.

My thought is that what’s widespread and deeply held today might not be tomorrow. As things would begin to worsen in the future due to the scarcity of resources propelled by population explosion, the definitions of what is and isn’t moral would change as well.
